Relationships in Good Hands (RIGHT) trial
Published: Thursday, March 6, 2025

As a service we are excited to be involved in the Relationships in Good Hands (RIGHT) trial of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) which is a research project led by Glasgow University.
Children who are adopted or in foster care often experience psychological or relationship problems. Many services aim to improve these and the RIGHT trial is trying to find out what works best.
Some of the questions the RIGHT trial will look at include:
- can we recommend better ways for social care and health services to work together to help adoptive and foster families?
- can a therapy called Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) improve the mental health of 5 to 12 year old fostered or adopted children?
- is DDP worth the commitment that families need to give to it?
We would love to hear from adopters with children aged 5 to 12 years who would be interested in participating in the project which has the potential to strengthen relationships and attachment within your family.
Please contact our team for more information before 31 July 2025 on AdoptionEvents@adoptioneastmidlands.nottscc.gov.uk.
